Safety
As in any situation in life it is important that you ensure you maintain your safety, both online and in any subsequent meetings you may decide to make. While we do not wish to patronise our members it is always helpful to be reminded of a few basic safety considerations.
During initial communication do not give out personal information or contact details such as your address, place of work or telephone number. If you do decide to arrange to meet ensure it is in a familiar public place and tell friend or confidant in advance of your plans. It might also be wise invite them along or to ask them to telephone you at a pre arranged time, this will allow you to both reassure them of your wellbeing or if you so choose, to use the call as an excuse to leave without any embarrassment to either party.
Do not rush into anything, take your time and until you know the other person well and are comfortable doing so it is best if you travel to and from any meeting independently and possibly arrange to meet a friend towards the end of your date. After all, a second opinion someone you know and trust can often be valuable and its always nice to see how your potential new friend interacts with people you already know.
It is important that you do not feel pressurised in to arranging a subsequent meeting on your first encounter, not to disclose any information you do not wish to and remember that alcohol can often impair our judgment so do not allow yourself to lose your sense of moderation.
